CEHP team conducted community service funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia
On July 24, 2024, socialization and assistance for clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) activities with a main focus on clean water and waste were carried out at Traditional Pondok Pesantren Bustanum Ulum, Pamekasan. This activity is fully funded by the Directorate of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (DGHERT), Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (MOECRT) of the Republic of Indonesia.
This community service was carried out to provide education about water treatment technology (UNUSA-Water) which is a superior product of the Center for Environmental Health of Pesantren (CEHP), University of Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (UNUSA) to ensure the availability of clean water in the pesantren environment. This water treatment is an important step in maintaining the health of the students, considering that access to clean water is often a challenge in these traditional pesantren.
In addition to focusing on clean water, this education also covers the importance of waste segregation. The students were given knowledge on how to segregate organic and inorganic waste and the positive impact of waste segregation on the environment. To support more effective waste management, the use of UNUSA-Incinerator, which is also the flagship product of CEHP UNUSA, was also introduced as one of the waste management solutions in pesantren
This training activity not only increases the awareness of the students about the importance of clean and healthy living behavior, but also provides them with technical knowledge that can be applied in their daily lives. Through this program, it is hoped that a cleaner and healthier environment can be created in traditional pesantren Bustanum Ulum, as well as building a sustainable PHBS culture among the students.
