Installation of UNUSA-Water as water filter equipment at the Pesantren Ma'had Az-Zahra in Kampar, Riau
The installation of the UNUSA-Water water
filtration equipment at the Pesantren Ma'had Az-Zahra Kampar Riau (Ustadz Abdul Somad), was carried out by a team from Nahdlatul Ulama
University Surabaya and PT Surya Jaya Perkasa as the fund provider. Installing
a water filter is an important step to improve the quality of water used by
students. Various initiatives have been carried out in several Pesantren, with different approaches to water
treatment and filtration. The UNUSA-Water tool uses activated carbon filter
media, silica sand, to reduce contaminants and increase turbidity removal
efficiency up to 99.86% as well as significantly reducing iron and manganese
concentrations. This system relies on three main technologies: filtration,
adsorption, and disinfection using UV light. This process not only removes
particles and contaminants, but also ensures that the water is free of harmful
bacteria. This technology focuses on ease of use and maintenance, so that it
can be operated by ordinary people. These initiatives demonstrate ongoing
efforts to increase access to clean water in various regions in Indonesia,
especially in areas that experience difficulties in obtaining supplies of water
suitable for consumption.
