Installation of UNUSA-Water at the Pesantren Manarul Qur'an Lumajang
The Center for Environmental Health of Pesantren. Universitas
Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya is collaborating with a Pegadaian Syariah to provide a
water filter assistance program to meet the need for clean water at the Pesantren
Manarul Qur'an, Lumajang, East Java. UNUSA-Water is water filtration equipment
was installed with a simple filtration working principle designed to improve
water cleanliness. This process involves several stages, starting from site
inspection to evaluating filtration results. The first stage is that the dirty
water will pass through filter tube number 1 which has an active ziolite
component, which acts as an adsorption process, namely absorbing water
impurities, then the water enters filter tube number 2 which has a component
with a combination of activated carbon and silica sand, the active carbon
functions to adsorb odor, color , chlorine, or other minerals, and can make the
water taste fresher. Silica sand functions to remove turbidity and trap dirt in
the water. Then the water entering filter tube number 3 has the same components
as filter tube number 2, so the adsorption process occurs twice using activated
carbon and silica sand. After the water passes through the 3 filter tubes,
water pollution such as iron and lime has been absorbed into the filter. Then
after obtaining clean water, the water then enters the second cleaning stage,
namely the water passes through a spun with a size of 3 microns and a size of 1
micron to obtain cleaner and clearer water. Next, in the final stage, the water
uses UV light to kill bacterial microorganisms.
