Solve the Problem Dirty Water at the Pesantren Barokatul Ishlah Jambi with UNUSA-Water as Water Filters Funded by YDSF
Pesantren Barokatul Ishlah located in Karang Harjo Hamlet, RT 05, Rantau Karya Village, Geragai District, East Tanjung Jabung Regency, Jambi Province, has been facing serious problems related to the quality of water used in daily activities. The water sourced from the existing facilities contains dirty mud and is cloudy yellow, causing various obstacles for the Pesantren residents, especially the Santri. One of the real impacts of this condition is the change in color of white clothes after being washed using the water, where the clothes turn yellow, reducing the value of cleanliness and aesthetics. In addition, this unclean water also causes health problems, where some Santri experience skin irritation in the form of itching that interferes with their comfort and activities.
Solve the problem, Pesantren Barokatul Ishlah took the initiative to register for the UNUSA-Water as water filter installation program organized by the Center for Environmental Health of Pesantren at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (CEHP UNUSA) and the Yayasan Dana Sosial Al-Falah (YDSF). This program aims to improve water quality by filtering dirt and other pollutants so that the resulting water is clearer, cleaner, and safer for use in various daily activities, including washing clothes and sanitation needs. The installation of this water filter was made possible thanks to financial support from the Yayasan Dana Sosial Al-Falah (YDSF), which also cares about improving environmental quality and health at the Pesantren.
The UNUSA-Water as water filter is expected to provide
long-term benefits for the Pesantren Barokatul Ishlah, particularly in creating
a healthier and more comfortable environment for the Santri. This program also
demonstrates the positive synergy between social institutions and religious
educational institutions in an effort to provide the best service for the
welfare and quality of life. With improved water quality, students can carry
out learning and other activities without being disturbed by health problems
caused by dirty water. In the future, this step is expected to serve as an
example for other Pesantren in addressing similar challenges through innovation
and targeted collaboration.
