Inauguration of UNUSA-Water at Pesantren Nahdlatus Syubban Pontianak: Providing a Solution to Cloudy Water Due to High Iron Content
Pontianak, November 19, 2025. The inauguration of UNUSA-Water at the Pesantren
Nahdlatus Syubban Pontianak took place with great enthusiasm, marking an
important step in managing water quality which has been a serious problem in
the Islamic boarding school environment. The event was attended directly by the
Chairman of CEHP UNUSA, Mr. Achmad Syafiuddin, and the Director of ZISWAF
CTARSA, Mr. M. Wahib, who both gave their full support to this clean water
program. The presence of these important figures demonstrates a shared
commitment to advancing the health and comfort of students and the Islamic boarding
school community.
The Pesantren Nahdlatus Syubban has been facing significant challenges
regarding water quality. High iron levels cause the water to become cloudy and
potentially endanger the health of its residents. This condition not only
disrupts daily activities but also increases the risk of health problems from
consuming unsafe water. To address this, UNUSA-Water installed a water filter
as an appropriate technological solution to ensure clean and safe water for all
residents.
The water filter installation process involves filtration technology that
significantly reduces iron levels while removing dirt and other particles that
cause cloudy water. After going through the filtration process, the resulting
water quality is truly clean and clear, meeting required health standards. This
also demonstrates the effectiveness of the technology applied in addressing the
water issues faced by Islamic boarding schools.
In his remarks, the Chairman of CEHP UNUSA, Mr. Achmad Syafiuddin, emphasized the importance of access to clean water as a basic need that must be met to maintain public health and support educational activities in Islamic boarding schools. Meanwhile, the Director of ZISWAF CTARSA, Mr. M. Wahib, added that this collaboration between institutions is a concrete manifestation of synergy in providing the best services for Islamic boarding schools and strengthening the role of zakat, infaq, and sedekah as a source of funding for sustainable social programs.
With the availability of clean, filtered water, the Pesantren Nahdlatus
Syubban can now conduct its teaching and learning programs and daily activities
more comfortably and healthily. This initiative not only impacts the well-being
of the Islamic boarding school environment but also inspires other educational
institutions to address similar issues using simple and effective technology.
Going forward, it is hoped that this water filtration technology can be
replicated in other Islamic boarding schools facing water quality challenges to
improve the health and quality of life of students more broadly.
