Organic Waste Processing Plan at Rengasdengklok Market, Karawang: From Waste to Organic Fertilizer
Karawang, November 21, 2025 – CEHP Chairman, Achmad Syafiuddin, along with
his partner, Mrs. Vickie, visited the waste disposal site at Rengasdengklok
Market, Karawang. During the visit, they discovered a worrying situation with
vast piles of poorly managed garbage. The waste was dominated by organic waste
such as rotting vegetables, fish and chicken offal that was disposed of
carelessly, resulting in a very pungent odor and adversely impacting the
surrounding environment and the health of the community around the market.
After conducting a comprehensive survey and analysis of existing
environmental issues, the CEHP team and partners formulated an innovative
organic waste management plan. The plan will utilize environmentally friendly,
smokeless incinerator technology, reducing air pollution emissions and
addressing the unpleasant odors that have long been a resident complaint. This
technology enables effective organic waste incineration without releasing
harmful gases into the air, thus preserving the quality of the surrounding
environment.
Furthermore, the residue from burning organic waste will be in liquid form
and can be used as organic fertilizer for plants. This innovation is expected
to provide a dual solution: cleaner waste management and supporting local
agriculture with environmentally friendly organic fertilizer. This program is
expected to maintain cleanliness at Rengasdengklok Market, positively impacting
public health, and raising awareness of the importance of proper waste
management in the Karawang area.
